This August has been one I'm doubtful to forget for a very long time, if ever. Since opening the shop in June 2016, i've been in a constant cycle packing, serving, merchandising and creating, a cycle i'm happy to continue for the foreseeable but like anything it's good to take a break, to recharge, find inspiration and most importantly to enjoy the company of friends and family. So earlier in the month Jonny and I drove down to Cornwall to take care of 4 young lurcher cross pups at a family friends home. Nearby live some of our cousins and the whole week was spent chasing after cheeky pups, eating amazing seafood, drinking wine, exploring the coastline and to my surprise...getting engaged. After a wonderful visit we made the tedious journey back up North (it took 10 hours, eek) and were welcomed by family and friends over the next few days with many congratulations, glasses of prosecco, well wishes and a ton of love, i'm still making my way down from cloud nine.
Last weekend we celebrated my 27th birthday, starting with a weekend away on the edge of the North York Moors in Great Ayton, with yet more exploring in and around the area. We took a trip to the coast and visited one of our favourite spots, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, where the dogs did laps of the beach. Despite our terrier Ralph nearly killing a chicken or two at our Airbnb house, we had a perfect mini break.
It's nearing the end of summer and I can't believe how quickly it's flown by and now i'm planning a blooming wedding filling me with so much excitement for the year ahead! But for now no more holidays are planned until the new year so I can concentrate on having a fun festive season at Mauds House, starting off with the Sunken Studio Ceramic Workshop on the 12th September which is now sold out, super exciting!
I hope you all had a wonderful summer too and I look forward to hearing you tales when you stop by the store.
