Mid-century Modern Accessorising: Cushions
We’re hugely inspired here at Mauds House by mid-century design and concepts, as well as the whole mid-century modern aesthetic and are often asked how to get the look without going overboard and replicating your great aunts dining room. Teak furniture is beaut and floral prints are cute, but not from floor to ceiling, wall to wall.
Personally, I like having things around me. Objects I enjoy looking at, illustrations on the wall, books stacked on shelves, a patterned rug under my toes, it makes me feel secure and well, at home. But overtime, i’ve honed in how to dress a room without the colours, objects and pattern overwhelming a space, and it’s true what they say guys, less is in-fact more. Something crucial to stick by in any mid-century modern home.
In this case we’re talking about introducing colour by using textiles, something that can be changed by the seasons and can accent your room in an instant. By choosing one or two cushions with a bold block print or in a vivid colour it can completely transform the mood of a room, as well as introducing an uplifting and playful character to what could possibly be an uninviting minimalist space.
Our selection of mid-century rework cushions are all handmade in Bristol, using original fabric sourced from the 1960's and 70's, giving you an authentic finish to your interiors. The cushions are backed with a high quality thick cotton fabric and strong stud fasteners. All seams are double stitched and overlocked for extra durability too.
